Back in August, I read a great article in the Wall Street Journal entitled, “Ten Tips Every iPhone and iPad User Should Know.” I expected to read what I already knew, but actually learned some great new tricks that I continue to use on a daily basis. Of the ten tips, here are a few of my favorites for the iPad: Tip #2: Tap to Scroll Up: You don’t have to keep scrolling and scrolling up the page on a website to get to the top. Simply tap once on the status bar (where the time and battery life are both displayed) and you will be taken immediately to the top. Tip #3: Keyboard Shortcuts: There is a lot of information crammed into this one tip, but here are two I really like:
- Tap and hold the Compose New Message icon (in email) and it will bring up all your saved drafts.
- Split the on-screen keyboard in two so you can hold the iPad with two hands and type with your thumbs. Simply take your two thumbs and swipe them from the center of the keyboard out to the sides and it will divide into two parts. To go back to one keyboard, swipe towards the center.
Tip #5: Take Screenshots: This is one of my favorites. If you’re on a website and wanted to capture the screen image, simply press the Home button and the On/Off button (top right edge) at the same time. You will hear a click just like when you use the camera, and the image will be saved to your photo album. You can then use an app like “Skitch” to make notations on the image and/or email it to someone. What tips have you learned that others might find useful?
